About Drug Story
Our society is awash in chronic disease. Tens of millions of Americans have been diagnosed with a condition - from diabetes to heart disease, from obesity to insomnia - that is often the consequence of larger social and cultural dysfunction.
Don’t worry, though! Your corner drug store contains more than 3,000 medications that promise to undo, or at least temper, the harms that everyday life puts upon us.
Every episode of Drug Story uses one drug to tell surprising, true tales about the business of disease and health. Through deep reporting, expert interviews and first-person experience, Drug Story reveals the hidden truths of how treating disease became a big business. This podcast asks the big question: What happens when we use drugs to fix up big problems?
